Underwater Lights

Best Practices:

Surface Mount Underwater Lights

Surface mount underwater lights should be mounted 6″-12″ below the water line on the transom of the vessel. The diagram below illustrates the suggested mounting configuration for inboard and outboard transoms. It is not recommended to place surface-mounted underwater lights on running surfaces as this may cause an impact hazard resulting in damage to the boat’s hull.

Through-Hull Underwater Lights

Through-hull underwater lights are available in a transom and flush mount housing options. Transom mount lights should be mounted 6″-12″ below the water line. The diagram below illustrates the suggested mounting configuration for inboard and outboard transoms.

Flush mount through-hull underwater lights can be mounted on a running surface. It is recommended the light is placed 6″-12″ below the water line and spaced from 3′-8′ intervals with a minimum of not less than 3 feet and a maximum of no more than 8 feet. The diagrams below illustrate the suggested mounting configuration and spacing for running surface-mounted lights.
